The Language of humanity Workshop

Cut through the noise of what people expect you to be.

Who do you believe you are? Has your sense of self, your story, been written by the expectations and beliefs of people, society, and culture?

The Language of Humanity workshop will help you not only recognize false stories but also learn to detach from them.

Here's how it works:
You will explore what you believe about who you are. I will help you rewrite a narrative that is grounded in your genuine human self.

This in-person workshop will meet on a Saturday and Sunday for three-hour sessions each day.
Groups are limited to 10 participants. All humans are welcome.

Unique works of art will serve as prompts to guide the process of discovery.

I also offer virtual one-on-one coaching as well as in-person group workplace experiences.

Art Is the Bridge to New Ideas

Why Labels?

Art helps us think and talk about humanity in unconventional ways. Artist William Pope.L pokes fun at the cultural labels which categorize and define human beings. His use of absurdity deflates the power of rigid societal codes.

Testimonials

I found myself reflecting on a guest artist talk Sharyll Burroughs gave in one of my freshman classes..., how she described herself as being completely unattached to a racial label, largely influenced by her Buddhist practice. I remember being taken aback by this sentiment, it having felt like a betrayal of a collective bipoc solidarity. But although I may not fully want to detach from the kinship that I do feel with others under this artificial moniker of "Asian," I believe that I am starting to understand where she is coming from...

– Sherrill Zheng, Artist

I am grateful to have participated because Sharyll is supremely insightful. In art, writing and life, it’s vital to explore our humanity in order to begin to see things clearly, to tell an honest story, to know who we are, and who we can be.

Felicity Fenton, Life Coach/Writer

Experiencing Sharyll's workshop has been illuminating and life-affirming, instructive, and inspiring. In both her life and her work, she underscores the value of individualism and humanity. I'm moved by her ability to permit and encourage conversation around difficult yet meaningful topics.
