“I love humanity
and all people and I want all people to be free….."
The Dharma of James Baldwin
The Dharma of James Baldwin Dialogues is a group exploration of what it means to be human.
A writer and visionary, Baldwin had much to say about the interconnectedness of humanity. He presented a bold challenge:
What would a vocabulary that includes the human race sound like?
“The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe…….”
You will experience James Baldwin’s wisdom and insights on humanity via audio and video presentations. Works of art and media are used to illustrate Baldwin’s unconventional thinking.
His insights inspire rich and meaningful dialogues.
Participants are invited to contemplate and express their perspectives about what being human means to them.
There are opportunities to explore topics such as self-determination, conformity, love, and the idea of our shared humanity, while also considering Baldwin's radical ideas.
This is an in-person, two-day experience. Each session lasts 2.5 hours.
Dharma is a Buddhist term that loosely translates as teachings however knowledge of Buddhism is not required.
